Community Connections
Belonging grows when the whole community comes together.
Community Connections brings participants, families, caregivers, volunteers, and neighbours together through welcoming gatherings designed for friendship, shared experiences, and a stronger sense of connection.

Connection benefits everyone
Connection benefits everyone.
Community connection gives participants opportunities to feel known, valued, and part of something larger. It also gives neighbours and community members opportunities to build understanding, empathy, and genuine relationships with people whose experiences may be different from their own. By spending time together, sharing experiences, and learning from one another, participants become more confident taking part in their community—and the community becomes more informed, welcoming, and inclusive.
These gatherings extend Catching Stars beyond regular adult social programs, helping families and neighbours in Scarborough, Toronto, and the GTA experience inclusive community connection together.
How events begin
Every community event begins with an idea.
We begin by asking what we can create that participants will enjoy and that families and caregivers can experience together. From there, we shape welcoming events where participants can have fun, families can connect, caregivers can share support, and new relationships can grow throughout the Catching Stars community.
Glow Dance Night
A night our community came together.
Our first Glow Dance Night brought the Catching Stars community together for food, games, music, dancing, and time to connect.
Families told us they enjoyed the evening just as much as participants did. It gave parents and caregivers time to connect, support one another, share helpful resources, and build relationships of their own.
