Our Story
Catching Stars was built from lived experience — not just professional training, but real life.
Founder Cindy grew up alongside her sister, giving her a firsthand understanding of the challenges families face when trying to find the right support.
That experience stayed with her — and shaped everything that Catching Stars is today.
A place where individuals with special needs can build confidence, friendships, and independence —while families feel supported every step of the way.
Meet Cindy
Cindy Walker
Founder & Program DirectorCindy is the heart behind Catching Stars.
Her journey began at home — growing up with her sister, she saw both the incredible strengths individuals can have and the gaps that exist in traditional support systems.
That perspective led her to work with the City of Toronto, where she helped design and run programs for individuals with special needs.
But over time, she realized something was missing.
Programs often lacked consistency, personal connection, and the flexibility families truly needed.
So she created Catching Stars — a space built differently.
One that combines real experience, professional knowledge, and genuine care into something families can trust.
Why Catching Stars Was Created
Catching Stars wasn’t created as just another program.
It was created because there was a need for something more — something personal, consistent, and built on real understanding.
⭐A place where individuals feel comfortable.
⭐A place where they can build real friendships.
⭐A place where they are supported, not just supervised.
That belief continues to guide everything we do.
More than care — we build confidence, friendships, independence, and belonging.
“It builds friendship, bonding, and community in a safe and welcoming environment.”
